Web Site Promotion
Having the best dressed website may look good but if no one is seeing it then you're wasting your time

Designing and building a website is one thing but getting it seen by prospective customers is the next most important part
As Oscar Wilde once said
“The one thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about”
If no one is talking about or seeing your website then you wont receive many customers and no customers means no sales... and no money...
Web Site Promotion and Marketing is the most important element to driving traffic to your website to obtain customers, sales, recommendations and a reputation.
First ofcourse you have to make sure your business has a proposition that is both attractive and presents good value to a prospective customer.
!You should study your market place and your competition and make sure your products and or services are packaged well and priced to sell. You should also identify your customers profile, demographics, age group, gender, habits and desires etc.
The days of creating a website and submitting it to some search engines and obtaining good listings and sales within 6 months or more are long gone as thousands of websites are being added to the directories daily. It is now a full time task to get your web site first found on the directories and to build upon that and continually improve your sites position and ranking.
When customers search for products and services the chances are they wont go beyond the first 10 results or page of search results depending upon the search engine they use. So if your website is not listed in the top 10 don't expect the customers to come flooding to your website.
There are alternative ways to obtain sales from your website and naturally these generally rely on traditional Marketing expenditure through offline advertising through newspapers, magazines, local radio and TV and other publicity media. If you are a small to medium sized company then you probably don't have the resources to do this effectively if at all. Advertising only works if the customers regularly see your name and website address and contact number and that can only come with time and name awareness campaigns and a huge budget to do it.
The great thing about the Internet was and still is that is a platform for the small person to stand a chance to do business alongside the big guy especially if you are more competitive for the same product. If your website is positioned adjacent to a large competitor then the consumer can often look at both websites and make an informed decision.
The Internet consumer has little patience and doesn't like waiting so if your website takes more than 20 seconds to load up then the chances are they will click away before they have even a chance to look at it. Check out Web Site Design Tips
