If you chose any other than C then don’t bother to read on, as you need more than our help.
If you choose C a Dentist and preferably a practising one then this article will make sense to you.
When it comes to choosing a Web Company why would you choose one that isn’t a practising exponent of current SEO techniques.
Each to their own is a common phrase and every one and every company normally has its strong points and its weak areas. The subject of web design is made up of a series of components and SEO is just one of them but an important one. If you are going to entrust your web design and web marketing to a company you should at least make sure they not only know how to design it they also know how to market it and advise you accordingly. A great looking website that is poorly optimised and has not taken SEO as an integral part of its original design is exactly what is it a great looking website which very few customers are going to find on the search engines.
A website could have any or all of the following components
- Design Layout
- Clear Easy Navigation
- Graphics
- Photography
- Database
- Ecommerce payment platform
- Search Engine Optimisation
Some websites can be beautiful to look at and contain stunning imagery yet with little or no search engine optimisation, this means that these websites will remain out in the cold and never get highly ranked on the search engines. Other sites can look rather boring and have a poor design yet be highly optimised and appear in the top 10 of the search engine rankings. This is evident when you search yourself so you have to ask yourself what would you prefer.
You need to ask yourself what you want your website to do for you, look great and flashy with smooth animations or be somewhat less exciting but found in the top 20 on the leading search engines such as Google, Yahoo & MSN. This is a choice only you can make but you need to be clear from the beginning BEFORE you commission its design so that the web design company know what they have to achieve in its design.
Let me explain a little bit more about SEO
Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is a phrase that is commonly used and often wildly miss understood, on this page we will explain important elements you need to know.
What is SEO
SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is a practice which exists exclusively on the internet and one of those buzz word acronym that is now part of internet email marketing.
You would think that web masters and particularly web design companies are fully aware of the skills and up to date tactics required to ensure that your website conforms to the latest SEO methods and that they are designing your website to be Search Engine Optimised. Regrettably you would be wrong to assume that is the case.
The key phrase here is 'up to date' as Search Engine Optimisation is an integral part of your web site construction and like shifting sands on the beach what used to work last year is now redundant and this means that Search Engine Optimisation practices need to be updated constantly to keep abreast of the changes made by Search Engines such as Google.
How can you be sure that your website and the design company you employ are up to date with Search Engine Optimisation? As a beginner or a novice web owner the answer to this question is that your not really going to know as you are entering a new industry and you can not be expected to be an expert on this subject as this is why you are engaging ‘so called’ experts to take care of this for you. Even seasoned web owners who have several websites for years are still kept in the dark as to whether their web masters and design companies really know their stuff or even practice the basics.
One way of finding out is to pose the question to your webmaster and design company to provide evidence of success stories they have with other client’s websites to prove they have been successful with those websites in terms of obtaining reasonable rankings within top 10 or top 20 placements naturally on search engines such as Google.
A Question for your webmaster or web design company
Can you show me other client's websites that you have designed and still maintain today that are in the top 10 or top 20 of Google’s natural rankings for key words or phrases?
If they can show some success stories then the chances are they know what they are doing. If they can not then you have to ask yourself why.
Who would you go to a Plumber or Builder to pull your teeth! It's your choice
