Spider Friendly URL’s

Spider

If your domain URL contains characters such as £ % $ & = etc then
the Search Engine may not be able to read them. As these characters are ‘dynamic’
in nature and are actually commands in their own right and if you include
them in your URL you are confusing the Bot’s. You will often see such extended
URL’s if carry out a search on the net and look at some of the URL’s in the
address bar when you visit some of the sites you find. You will also see
these sort of characters contained within URL’s if you click on some links
or hover your mouse over the link and look at the bottom left hand address
bar of your browser and you will see the intended address of the link revealed
to you which if it is an affiliate coded link then you will see an extended
URL containing such characters.

To actually optimise sites in their own right which contain such dynamic characters
you have your work cut out. There are technical solutions to this and it
is possible to host such URL’s on Servers with UNIX operating systems and
use Apache Mod_rewrite which effectively will rewrite the URL that contains
such session ID’s or other awkward dynamic characters into Search Engine
friendly URL’s if you need help with this or think this could be a problem for
