What is an SSL Certificate?
A SSL is a Secure Socket Layer Certificate which is purchased to 'vet' the site security measures and hosting and often seen in e-commerce platforms to provide 'peace of mind' symbolism to consumers to assure them that the site is verified and follows the given protocols for payment processing.
Whilst a SSL Certificate is not essential it is an additional measure to provide customer confidence and displayed on the home page and footer of sites during the payment process to hopefully convince some clients that the system is robust and secure.
